Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Dining Service Attendant to join our team at Verve Senior Living. As a key member of our dining room team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional service to our residents and guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in and contribute to the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Program.
  • Serve meals in the dining room to residents and guests.
  • Set dining room tables, and clear the dining room of dishes, utensils, etc.
  • Clean and vacuum dining room as required.
  • Wash dishes, pots, and clean kitchen equipment and area, as assigned according to established cleaning procedures. Sanitize dishwasher area after each meal.
  • Handle vouchers for meal guests.
  • Serve snacks.
  • Portion desserts for serving in the dining room.
  • Receive and store food supplies.
  • Provide assistance to the cook in the preparation of food and assembly of salad/sandwich plates, as assigned.
  • Maintain effective communication, both written and verbal with co-workers. Use the appropriate lines of communication with supervisory staff.
  • Perform other dietary related tasks as assigned.
  • Comply with other infection control protocols as directed, e.g. outbreak management.
  • Attend appropriate in-service education opportunities within the residence.
  • Comply with all relevant corporate policies and procedures.
  • Complete all required annual mandatory training/education.
  • Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System, and Food Premises Regulations. This includes recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in in-services and fire drills.

Requirements

We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented individual who is able to follow written and oral instructions and speak and write fluent English. A pleasant, outgoing personality is required. An understanding of food service and preparation with Safe Food Handling Certificate is essential. Previous experience in a similar position in a hotel/restaurant or institutional setting will be given preference.
