Kelson is a leading COR certified ICI industry Contractor with an excellent safety record and culture directly supported by Senior Management. We are seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Professional to join our team in Niagara Falls.

Your Role: Construction Safety Specialist

  • Conduct regular weekly on-site safety inspections at our Niagara project, ensuring compliance for both our crews and subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with project teams to establish safety protocols, identify potential hazards, and implement effective control measures.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to promote a strong health and safety awareness culture through training programs and initiatives specific to construction.
  • Lead incident investigations, analyze root causes, and develop corrective actions and recommendations to prevent future occurrences.
  • Assist with new employee orientations, ensuring they understand our commitment to safety and their responsibilities.
  • Deliver comprehensive training on WHMIS, aerial work platforms, forklifts, telehandlers, and other relevant certifications required for the construction environment. (Train-the-trainer experience is a valuable asset).
  • Contribute to the creation of site-specific work plans for critical operations such as hoisting and rigging, confined space entry, and more.
  • Actively engage with JHSC members and supervisors to foster a collaborative safety environment and ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Analyze safety performance data and provide insights to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Offer proactive mentorship and guidance on all aspects of on-site health and safety practices.
  • Work effectively with clients and other safety professionals to achieve the highest safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of our comprehensive safety program.

Your Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a recognized Health and Safety Program. NCSO designation is considered an asset but not required.
  • 5+ years of practical on-site safety experience in the ICI construction industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Experience in preparing, planning, and implementing JHSC meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Ontario Health and Safety Acts and Regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving and innovative thinking skills.
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration abilities.
