Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Home Care Resource Coordinator, the Home Care Attendant provides personal care and home support services to clients in their own homes. The incumbent will exercise initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities and methods to be employed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personal care and home support services to clients as assigned
  • Assist clients with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Prepare and serve meals, as needed
  • Assist clients with medication management
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to clients

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in both official languages (English/French)
  • Grade 12 education required
  • Home Care Attendant Certificate or Health Care Aide Certificate with community component from a recognized post-secondary institute
  • Knowledge of Safe Food Handling
  • Previous experience working with the elderly or disabled in a community setting is preferred

Working Conditions:

The Home Care Attendant will work in clients' homes, which may involve working in a variety of settings, including private homes, apartments, and condominiums. The incumbent will be required to travel to clients' homes, which may involve driving a personal vehicle.
