Qualifications and Requirements

Island Health is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Community Health Services team. To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
  • Two years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • A valid BC driver's license.
Key Responsibilities

As a Community Health Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing client-focused, trauma-informed, and culturally safe care.
  • Completing initial and ongoing client assessments and providing nursing care through evidence-based guidelines.
  • Effective written, electronic, and verbal communication to facilitate inter-professional collaborative practice, healthy environments, and a respectful workplace.
  • Instructing clients and others about topics essential to health care and well-being.
  • Managing time and resources effectively.
  • Applying knowledge of care planning and care coordination, including knowledge of community programs and services.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of community health practice, chronic disease management, geriatric, and palliative nursing practice within a client and caregiver-centered care approach.
  • Developing and implementing own learning goals for continuous learning and professional development.
  • Using factual information, prior learning, and basic principles and procedures to support decisions and actions with relevant research-based evidence.
  • Informing, applying, and integrating research and evidence-based best practice related to nursing and health-related disciplines and the humanities, arts, and sciences disciplines into professional practice.
  • Operating related equipment and technology, including relevant computer applications.
