Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nursing Unit Assistant to join our team at Queen Victoria Hospital in Revelstoke. This is a permanent part-time opportunity with rotating days, including 08:00 to 16:00 and 09:00 to 17:00 shifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prioritize, process, coordinate, and transcribe physicians' orders.
  • Act as a communication link for the unit, ensuring effective communication with staff and patients.
  • Schedule, book, and coordinate patient/resident appointments.
  • Assemble and maintain patient/resident charts, input patient/resident data, and transcribe information into relevant systems.
  • Perform various clerical duties, including keyboarding, data entry, filing, compiling, preparing, and maintaining statistics, producing reports, delivering, and picking up items.
  • Maintain timekeeping records for regular and relief staff and submit/enter to payroll systems.
  • Observe patient/resident call signals and relay messages to the appropriate personnel.
Requirements
  • Completion of Grade 12.
  • A current Typing Test of 40 wpm or greater completed within the past 48 months from a recognized institution.
  • A Nursing Unit Clerk Certificate.
  • Ability to keyboard 40 wpm.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Ability to utilize a variety of computer software applications.
