Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fleet Supervisor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and directing a team of technicians who operate, repair, and maintain our commercial diesel and alternative fuel trucks, and heavy equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily planning and scheduling of all repair work to optimize productivity and ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Review and approve expenses related to equipment maintenance and repairs, ensuring they are within budget and align with company standards.
- Assist with inventory control and management of equipment and parts, ensuring necessary levels are maintained and purchases are made efficiently.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities to ensure they are in good working condition and meet company standards.
- Mentor and train technicians to improve their skills and knowledge, and to ensure they are equipped to perform their duties effectively.
- Develop and implement procedures to improve efficiency and productivity, and to reduce costs.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination of fleet operations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Valid Driver's License.
- Journeyman/Red Seal certification is preferred but not required.
- Experience in leading a team is desirable but not required.
- One (1) or more years of lead technician or supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of tools and equipment required to perform repairs and maintenance on commercial vehicles and heavy equipment.
- Ability to follow schedules, instructions, technical manuals, and maintenance guidelines.
- Experience using diagnostic software is preferred. Must be computer literate and willing and able to be trained in software systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively across various levels of the organization and with external vendors.
- Ability to be a self-starter capable of working effectively in a team environment or as an individual contributor.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Working Conditions
The Fleet Supervisor must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, both indoors and outdoors, in various weather conditions. The position requires moderate walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, grasping/gripping, and pushing/pulling.
Physical Demands
The Fleet Supervisor must be physically able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, and push/pull up to 100 pounds. The position requires work utilizing personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, safety-toed boot, utility gloves, reflective vest, hearing and eye protection, hard hat, etc.
