The Salvation Army is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual for a part-time custodial position, working on weekends. This role involves maintaining the upkeep of our facility, including cleaning floors, washrooms, windows, and ensuring the general cleanliness of the premises.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Establishing and monitoring preventative maintenance procedures for related equipment; recommending repairs and purchases as required.
  • Reporting safety concerns and major repair issues to the supervisor.
  • Maintaining the general cleanliness of the facility, including cleaning floors, washrooms, windows, and dusting surfaces.
  • Ensuring the general upkeep of external property, including clearing sidewalks of snow and ice, cleaning main floor outside windows, and picking up litter.
  • Providing access to the facility and securing it as needed.
  • Restocking washroom supplies and distributing received material as required.
  • Spot washing accessible walls and shampooing carpets as needed.
  • Maintaining a log of all building maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintaining an accurate inventory of all supplies.
  • Referencing all resident inquiries to front desk staff or Case Worker.

This permanent part-time position requires 8 hours of work per week, with flexibility in scheduling. The work schedule is determined in consultation with your supervisor and may vary according to the requirements of the position. Applicable shifts include a 1⁄2 hour paid meal break.

The successful candidate must have:

  • A high school diploma.
  • Valid WHMIS, First Aid, and CPR certificates.
  • A valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and a current copy of a Driver's abstract for review and verification.
  • Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
