Job Title: Principal Consultant, Scientist

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Consultant, Scientist to join our team at ERM. As a key member of our multidisciplinary biodiversity and impact assessment team, you will provide senior-level support to our clients across Canada, with a focus on environmental assessment, ecological field programs, and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation of environmental assessments, including soils, terrestrial ecosystem, and wetland assessments, in compliance with federal, provincial, and territorial requirements.
  • Support ecological field programs in BC, Alberta, and northern Canada, including survey field work, data collection, and literature review.
  • Develop and implement project delivery activities, such as report writing, data analysis, and recommendations for clients.
  • Assist with developing environmental permitting applications and proposals, including scopes and cost estimates.
  • Work on multiple projects within client scope, budget, and schedule expectations, ensuring quality standards on project deliverables.
  • Communicate with clients, subcontractors, regulatory agents, landowners, and team members during field activities.
  • Manage a team of junior and intermediate-level ERM employees, providing mentorship opportunities and growing the ERM team from within.

Requirements:

  • B.Sc. degree in Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or related field; M.Sc. preferred.
  • 5+ years of environmental consulting experience, with prior experience in government, mining, or oil and gas sectors considered assets.
  • Environmental Assessment drafting experience and expertise with Federal, Provincial, and Territorial regulations and guidelines.
  • Experience completing Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping projects in BC according to provincial standards, guidelines, and procedures an asset.
  • Relevant professional designation, or immediate eligibility, such as P.Ag or CPESC R.P.Bio/P.Biol.
  • Strong commitment to safety, including following established health and safety protocols.
  • Ability to lead, follow directions, and take initiative when required.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a demanding work environment.
  • French or Spanish language skills an asset.
