Position Overview:

WSP Global Inc. is in search of a Manager to oversee our Ecology division in the Lower Mainland, which is an integral part of our Ecology and Environmental Impact Assessment (EcoEIA) sector in British Columbia. Reporting directly to the EcoEIA Director, this role encompasses both leadership of a dedicated team of 25 professionals and the provision of advanced technical and project management guidance across a diverse array of projects.

You will become part of a dynamic group of marine, freshwater, and terrestrial biologists and ecologists located in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, with operational bases in Vancouver and Langley. As the Manager, you will be pivotal in achieving our strategic goals and fostering growth within the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster a safe and positive workplace for all team members.
  • Exhibit unwavering dedication to health and safety protocols.
  • Support project managers and assume leadership responsibilities, including:
    • Evaluating cost estimates and client deliverables within your designated authority.
    • Assisting team members in prioritizing and organizing their tasks to meet project goals.
    • Guiding team members in their professional development and performance through mentorship.
  • Engage in human resources functions throughout the year, including performance evaluations, recruitment, and onboarding processes.
  • Collaborate with the EcoEIA Director and Vice President to ensure the financial success of the team by monitoring financial performance and implementing necessary improvements.
  • Communicate company policies and directives to the Ecology team and oversee their implementation as needed.
  • Encourage collaboration within the EcoEIA team and across other WSP business units.
  • Inspire team alignment with WSP's guiding principles and vision.
  • Provide mentorship to Ecology team project managers.
  • Participate in business development initiatives to promote the growth of the Ecology team and enhance client relationships.
  • Lead monthly meetings for the Ecology team.

Qualifications:

  • A university degree (minimum undergraduate) in environmental or natural sciences, environmental engineering, or related fields.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a consulting capacity focused on ecological project execution.
  • Professional registration (R.P.Bio, P.Ag, RPP, etc.) in British Columbia.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with diverse teams and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong business insight and financial management skills, including budget development and tracking.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficient project management skills, capable of overseeing several projects concurrently.
  • Demonstrated success in team leadership, emphasizing a positive and collaborative work atmosphere.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety leadership.
  • Dedication to technical excellence and proficiency in drafting proposals and technical reports.

Compensation:

Salary Range (in British Columbia): $99,500 - $164,200

The final salary for this position may vary based on factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and organizational needs. The salary range provided may be subject to adjustments for business purposes.
