About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Education Assistant II to join our team at Parkland School Division. As an Education Assistant II, you will play a vital role in supporting students with complex needs, providing individualized support and accommodations to ensure their academic and personal success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide instructional support to students with complex needs, including those with physical, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
  • Assist students with daily living skills, such as toileting, dressing, and feeding.
  • Support students with communication needs, including those who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Provide behavioral support and interventions to students with challenging behaviors.
  • Assist with classroom preparation and organization, including setting up materials and equipment.
  • Supervise students during activities, such as recess and field trips.
  • Communicate with parents and guardians to ensure consistent support and accommodations for students.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Teacher Assistant Certificate or Educational Assistant Certificate (or equivalent).
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and First Aid Certificate (or equivalent).
  • Experience working with students with complex needs (physical, emotional, and behavioral challenges).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
