Drywall Fitter and Finishing Specialist

Overview

ESW Building Services Inc. is seeking a skilled Drywall Fitter and Finishing Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our construction crew, you will be responsible for installing and finishing drywall panels to ensure a smooth, even finish.

Key Responsibilities
  • Measure, cut, and install drywall sheets to ensure a precise fit
  • Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints to achieve a smooth finish
  • Clean and prepare surfaces for plastering and finishing
  • Cure freshly plastered surfaces to ensure a strong bond
  • Install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners and wire mesh around beams for added support
  • Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists
  • Smooth out excess compound and allow coat to dry
  • Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound
  • Attach metal or gypsum lath to studs or furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings
  • Cut openings in lath for heating and ventilation piping, ducts, and electrical outlets
Requirements
  • 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in drywall installation and finishing
  • Ability to work at heights, on scaffolding, or swing stages
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Physical stamina to handle heavy loads and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications
Working Conditions

This is a physically demanding role that requires working in a dusty, noisy environment with frequent exposure to heights. You must be able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality and attention to detail.

Earn up to $23 kg (50 lbs) handling heavy loads and equipment. Report to the job site wearing a hard hat, mask, safety glasses/goggles, and steel-toed safety boots.
