We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Environmental Assessment Director to join our team at Environmental Resources Management (ERM). This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to lead our Canadian regulatory and permitting team and make a significant impact in successfully implementing our global strategy.

This full-time position offers a competitive salary of $165,000 - 215,000 CAD per annum, depending on experience. The successful candidate will be based remotely but should be willing to travel occasionally to one of ERM's offices or a client site, as needed.

Job Description:
  1. Oversee the quality and consistency of environmental assessments, permit applications, and associated management plans for power and energy projects across Canada.
  2. Contribute to proposal development and lead project scoping to drive business growth and success.
  3. Provide technical input and guidance to team members on regulatory and permitting requirements applicable to client projects, fostering technical expertise across sectors and jurisdictions.
  4. Drive quality across proposal and project deliverables, ensuring exceptional results and client satisfaction.
  5. Work on multiple projects, supporting management and execution of scope, budget, and schedule to meet client expectations and ensure quality standards.
  6. Build strong collaborative relationships with clients and ERM employees worldwide, promoting a culture of teamwork and excellence.
  7. Actively contribute to ERM's project management technical community, collaborating with other global practitioners to execute projects effectively.
  8. Manage and provide regulatory leadership for projects advancing through provincial, territorial, and federal environmental assessment and permitting processes.
  9. Participate in ERM internal and external training opportunities to maintain and grow work-related skills, staying current on changes to regulatory requirements.
Requirements & Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  2. A minimum of 8-12 years of consulting experience in impact assessment and permitting, specifically in the power and energy sector in western Canada.
  3. Expert knowledge of federal, provincial, and territorial regulations and guidelines.
  4. In-depth knowledge of regulatory and permitting requirements and compliance management as they relate to mining, oil and gas, renewable energy, and transportation projects.
  5. Excellent writing, communication, organization, time, and team management skills.
  6. Demonstrated experience providing strategic guidance to support clients navigating the regulatory process.

This role requires a flexible approach to work, with some overtime required during peak periods. Meetings with clients may not strictly occur between 9-5, given the global nature of our operations.
