About the JobWe are seeking a skilled 3rd/4th year Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team in Langford. As an integral part of our maintenance crew, you will play a vital role in ensuring our fleet is maintained to the highest standards of safety and reliability.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, a keen interest in commercial truck repair, and basic knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems.
Responsibilities- Assist in diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and help repair engines, transmissions, and differentials
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance tasks, such as changing oil, checking batteries, and inspecting belts, hoses, brakes, and tires
- Collaborate with experienced mechanics to remove and replace defective parts, ensuring all replaced components are tested and functioning properly
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment efficiently and safely, maintaining and organizing tools and equipment
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures, participating in safety meetings and training sessions to ensure a safe working environment
- Accurately complete work orders and maintenance logs, reporting any issues or concerns to the supervising mechanic
- Interact with customers professionally and courteously, explaining repairs and maintenance tasks when necessary
