Job Summary:

Meridia Recruitment Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Director, Legal Operations to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of our legal support services strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for legal support services, aligning with the firm's overall business objectives.
  • Build and manage a high-performing team of professionals, providing coaching and guidance to ensure their success.
  • Oversee the recruitment process, ensuring the hiring of top talent within approved budgets.
  • Implement and execute firm policies and process reviews, including those related to compensation, employment, performance management, and staff development.
  • Manage risk associated with employee relations situations, advising senior leadership on disciplinary or termination procedures.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including senior directors, national practice group leaders, and regional managing partners.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business growth and improve operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and analyze key metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement, developing recommendations for change and growth.
  • Ensure the execution of legal support efficiency projects, securing corporate commitment and buy-in.
  • Oversee the contribution of Continuous Improvement Committees, facilitating communication across functional stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field, such as Business Administration or Human Resources.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in administration, with a minimum of five years in a supervisory or management position.
  • Experience in professional services, preferably in the legal industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in organizational change management and team building.
  • Proven problem-solving skills, analytical reasoning, and critical thinking.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain composure and a professional attitude in difficult situations.
  • Availability to attend events outside of core business hours as required.
  • Up to 25% travel to other offices required.

Working Environment:

The employee in this position will be part of a national team, working with lawyers and professionals in all our offices across Canada. This includes working in English or French for clients, lawyers, or professionals who understand and communicate only in English or French.
