Mechanical Product Designer

Artech LLC is seeking a skilled Mechanical Product Designer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering and experience in product design. Responsibilities include supporting design throughout the engineering process, creating and improving mechanical designs, and conceptualizing product innovations. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of engineering principles, including structural integrity, thermal performance, and manufacturability. Additionally, they will have experience with CAD software, such as PTC Creo Parametric/PDM, and be able to estimate personal timelines to support effective project scheduling. Qualifications include an undergraduate degree in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering and 8+ years of experience in product design. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in developing detailed designs through CAD models and drawings, as well as experience in designing with sheet metal, injection-molded plastic, die-casts, busbars, and harnessing for prototype and high-volume production. They will also have a strong understanding of design methodologies, including minimum constraint design, tolerance stack-up analysis, and GD&T, as well as a design for excellence (DFX) mentality. Familiarity with designing for compliance with regulatory standards, such as UL/IEC/NEC, is also preferred. Knowledge of BOM, DFMEA, FTA, and DVT processes is a plus.
