Registered Practical Nurse

Job Description:
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is seeking a skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our team at Riverview Gardens Long-Term Care facility. As an RPN, you will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to our residents, working collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to residents, including administering medications, performing routine procedures, and monitoring vital signs.
- Lead and direct the team of Personal Support Workers to ensure quality care is delivered to our residents.
- Assist Registered Nurses with procedures such as respiratory therapy and intravenous therapy.
- Participate in resident care planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Monitor residents' progress, report changes in condition, and confer with other healthcare professionals.
Requirements:
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as an RPN.
- Current Standard Level First Aid and Level C CPR certifications.
- Healthcare Provider (C) certificate.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Work Environment:
This position works indoors and is expected to work a minimum of 22.5 hours per week, with the possibility of up to 37.5 hours per week. The successful candidate will be required to work weekday and weekend hours, including days, afternoons, and midnight shifts, as well as statutory holidays.
COVID-19 Vaccination:
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent no longer requires a COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of employment. However, it is highly encouraged.
Background Check Requirements:
A background check will be required prior to commencement of employment. This position works with vulnerable residents in a position of trust and authority, on a sustained and regular basis, in a largely unsupervised capacity. A Vulnerable Sector Screen is required prior to being accepted for employment.
