Job Summary:

Alexandra Hospital Ingersoll is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team. As a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results, while maintaining a high level of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures, including phlebotomy, to ensure accurate and timely results.
  • Operate and maintain complex laboratory equipment, including automated analyzers and microscopes.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure seamless communication and coordination of patient care.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with new technologies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager.

Requirements:

  • Certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent.
  • Current registration or eligibility as a Medical Laboratory Technologist with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario.
  • Minimum two years' experience in a medical laboratory setting.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Availability to work all shifts, including weekends, stat holidays, and on-call.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to perform phlebotomy and work in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and collaborate with healthcare teams.
  • Must be able to maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary as per the OPSEU collective agreement ($36.84 per hour to $50.24 per hour). Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage.
