Job Title: Spiritual Health Practitioner - Residential Care

Job Summary:

The Spiritual Health Practitioner - Residential Care will provide spiritual health services, care, and support to residents and their families within Fraser Health operated Residential Care facilities. The successful candidate will work in partnership with Fraser Health spiritual health staff members, volunteer services, and local spiritual and religious communities to provide comprehensive spiritual health services that respect cultural diversity and align with Fraser Health policies and the Provincial Spiritual Health Framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and provide comprehensive spiritual care and emotional support services to residents, families, and staff in residential facilities.
  • Facilitate linkages with local community faith and spiritual groups and participate in the recruitment, orientation, and continuing education of volunteers.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with regional spiritual and religious communities and develop and facilitate linkages with community spiritual support services.
  • Manage and maintain an appropriate sacred space at assigned residential locations and monitor the distribution of spiritual/religious materials.
  • Participate in the development of clinical decision support guidelines, policies, and procedures related to spiritual health care.
  • Maintain statistics on the delivery of spiritual health services and participate in continuous quality assurance improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in theology or a related discipline from a recognized educational institution.
  • Completion of one advanced unit of Clinical Pastoral Education from the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC), or equivalency.
  • One year recent related experience in a spiritual health related role or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC) and an active and accountable member of good standing in one's own faith/spiritual community group.

  • Demonstrates the leadership practices of the Fraser Health Leadership Framework of Clear, Caring, and Courageous.
  • Advanced ability and sensitivity to develop therapeutic and supportive relationships and support with persons and/or their families experiencing immediate crisis or life-altering illness/injury.
  • Applies specialized knowledge of pastoral/spiritual care and/or pastoral counselling theory and practice with individuals, families, groups, and volunteers in a client-centered model of care.

Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment and will be required to work independently and as part of a team. The candidate will be required to travel to various locations within Fraser Health and will be expected to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
