Heavy Equipment Operator for Transmission Line Construction

Forbes Bros. Group of Companies is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to support the operations team on our transmission line construction project in Ontario.

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating various heavy equipment such as Pressure Diggers, Dozers, Excavators, and Powerline pulling equipment. They will also assist in providing manual labor support to ensure project deadlines are met, in conjunction with instructions from the Construction Manager.

  • A competitive hourly wage of $25-$35 per hour, depending on experience.

**Job Responsibilities:**

  2. Proficiently operate assigned heavy company equipment when assigned.
  3. Ensuring safety and quality is at the forefront of every task.
  4. Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
  5. Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
  6. Clean heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required.
  7. Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored.
  8. Advise the Public Works Foreman of any requirements for maintenance or repairs.
  9. Participate in routine maintenance.
  10. Participate and engage in daily Tailboard meetings, identify hazards and assist in crew compliance to safety policies and regulations.
  11. Adhere to safety protocols and policies as outlined.
  12. Work with construction equipment such as compactors, shoring, core drills, various hand tools.
  13. Ensure cleanliness of sites by routinely removing garbage and other debris.

**Requirements:**

  • Class 1 or 3 with air brake endorsement is preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year construction experience, is required.
  • Ability to recognize site hazards and implement hierarchy of controls to eliminate hazards with crew members.
  • Able and willing to work in field/site with travel and work hour flexibility to accommodate to remote/site work schedules.
  • Able and willing to present an acceptable five (5) year drivers abstract upon employment.
