Job Summary

Under the general authority of the Assistant Director of Student Services and the direct supervision of the Conseillère en Services Adaptés, the Attendant for Disabled Students is responsible for assisting disabled students in their participation in their courses and/or in other activities.

The Attendant assists disabled students in their movements, provides them with assistance required by their condition, and ensures their well-being.

This position is for 21.0 hours per week, with the possibility of reduced hours based on students' schedules.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Physical accompaniment within the college environment, including arrivals and departures, assistance with retrieving items from lockers, mobility in the college, orientation within the college, and adapting the classroom and arranging furniture to meet the student's needs.
  • Assistance with academic work, including accompaniment to classes, assistance in laboratories, assistance setting up materials on the student's desk, assistance collecting handouts, assistance conducting research in the library, and assistance using books and textbooks.
  • Physical accompaniment when interacting with others, including assistance with communication, assistance with team projects, and accompaniment to meetings with teachers and staff.
  • Perform any other related tasks as may be assigned.
Qualifications
  • Secondary school diploma or a diploma of vocational studies in an appropriate specialty or a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.
  • Ability to deal efficiently and pleasantly with people.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • English advanced, both oral and written.
