Residential Support Specialist for Children and Youth

We are seeking a dedicated Residential Support Specialist to provide essential care and support to high-needs children (ages 6-12) and youth within our residential services program. This role emphasizes teamwork, community engagement, and individualized care plans tailored to meet the unique developmental needs of each child or youth.

As a Residential Support Specialist, you will:

  • Collaborate with a team to implement comprehensive care plans for children/youth in both community/family-based environments and residential settings, ensuring specific measurable treatment and outcome goals are established and achieved.
  • Assist parents/guardians and other significant individuals in effectively managing the needs of high-needs children/youth. Facilitate consistent contact between children/youth and their support network, modeling healthy relationships and providing guidance.
  • Champion a philosophy that prioritizes placement stability while actively supporting children/youth in reintegration into the community as soon as possible.
  • Assess recreational and social needs of the children/youth and provide engaging activities within outreach and residential settings to promote their well-being and development.
  • Provide direct support to children/youth and collaborate with Child Protection Services to ensure their safety and best interests are met.
  • Participate in maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for the children/youth, including assisting with chores, providing homework support, tutoring, and supervision at various locations as outlined in their care plan.
  • Work closely with other agencies to coordinate services and effectively utilize available resources on behalf of each child/youth.
  • Ensure all duties are completed by the end of each shift and maintain accurate documentation according to established protocols.
  • Mentor new or relief staff, providing orientation and supervision for student placements.
  • Complete required documentation and incident reporting as needed, adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.
