Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work with high-needs children and youth in a residential setting. As a Child and Youth Care Worker, you will be responsible for providing support and direction to children and youth, working closely with families and community agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement plans of care for children and youth in residential and community-based settings, with a focus on measurable treatment and outcome goals.
  • Assist parents and guardians in dealing with high-needs children and youth, facilitating consistent contact with significant others and modeling healthy relationships.
  • Work from a philosophy that prioritizes placement stability while supporting children and youth in the community and their restoration back to the community as soon as possible.
  • Assess recreational and social needs of children and youth, responding with appropriate activities in outreach and residential settings.
  • Provide direct service to children and youth and support to Child Protection Services.
  • Participate in the maintenance of the centre, including children and youth in completing chores as appropriate, providing homework support, tutoring, and supervision.
  • Work closely with other agencies to meet the needs of children and youth receiving a service, making the best use of all available resources.
  • Assume responsibilities for all duties that need to be completed by the end of the shift and ensure required documentation is maintained.
  • Assist new or relief staff with orientation and provide evaluation and supervision of student placements.
  • Complete required documentation and incident reporting.

This position requires a high level of emotional intelligence, empathy, and cultural competence. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment, communicate effectively with children, youth, and families, and adapt to changing circumstances.
