Position Summary

Interior Health Authority is seeking an experienced Data Governance Specialist to join our team on a full-time permanent basis in Kelowna. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in championing the development and implementation of our Data Governance framework, ensuring high-quality, robust, and effective data to support patient care.

About the Job

In accordance with our established vision and values, the Data Governance Specialist will support and enable the development, implementation, improvement, and sustainment of data ownership, knowledge, access, quality, policies, and supports. Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying opportunities to leverage information assets to achieve efficiency and effectiveness in the organization.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of an enterprise-wide data governance framework, focusing on data quality and protection.
  • Working with leaders to ensure clear accountability for data stewardship and establishing consistent data access controls.
  • Leading the development of a data quality framework and data management lifecycle processes.
  • Promoting data literacy and education among partners.
Qualifications

Education, Training, and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or Business Administration, with completed coursework in a health-related discipline. A minimum of five years of experience in data management, linkage, analysis, interpretation, and reporting is required, including experience working in a complex, computerized environment with large-scale data or project management and oversight experience.

Skills and Abilities

The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to enterprise information assets, and industry-leading data quality and protection management practices. Strong organizational and planning skills, as well as the ability to work independently and within a team environment, are essential.
