Overview

Steel River Group Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Community Navigator to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. As a Community Navigator, you will play a critical role in championing, developing, and implementing our company values to facilitate meaningful engagement between Steel River Group of Companies and our Indigenous Community Partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with First Nations communities to support project initiatives.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for collaboration between Steel River Group and First Nations, incorporating traditional and cultural knowledge into our programs.
  • Work closely with First Nations, designated personnel, and related parties to achieve key deliverables and project objectives.
  • Collaborate with our consulting group to identify potential First Nations partners for projects, including infrastructure development and community-based initiatives.
  • Manage relationships and track potential partners, ensuring effective communication and feedback throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Mitigate any concerns or conflicts that may arise, ensuring a positive and respectful working relationship with First Nations.
  • Proactively identify and communicate challenges or conflicts that may impact project success.
  • Maintain continuous communication and feedback with First Nations throughout project execution.
  • Document engagement activity records with First Nations throughout projects.
  • Liaise between project teams, First Nations, industry partners, and contractors to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Support contractor and subcontractor relations, ensuring effective collaboration and communication.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience working with First Nations is required.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to develop strong working relationships and communicate effectively with First Nations communities.
  • Comprehensive computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Organization, time-management, and multi-tasking skills to manage multiple projects and relationships.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a growing, dynamic, and changing environment.
  • Optimistic and collaborative approach to work, with a strong understanding and commitment to First Nations culture, history, and community development.

Working Conditions

  • Field-based position with occasional office work.
  • General office environment and project sites.
  • Frequent travel to project sites will be required.
