As a Production Supervisor at Carmeuse, you will be responsible for directly supervising the activities of front-line production employees to ensure the manufacturing of products in scheduled quantities, at budgeted cost, and acceptable quality. You will also be responsible for managing, participating, and adhering to the company's safety and environmental programs.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide leadership to ensure all company safety rules and regulations are observed by all employees, including providing a safe workplace and planning necessary resources to accomplish site safety goals.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with environmental regulations for the lime facility.
- Interface with government agencies and other governing bodies.
- Follow up on investigations with the Safety Committee and others as needed.
- Monitor the safety program and its effectiveness.
- Monitor environmental compliance.
- Monitor the Continuous Improvement Management process, including non-conformance resolution, and develop corrective action plans to prevent future customer complaints.
- Prepare and implement training plans to provide employees with the necessary training to perform their jobs safely and effectively.
- Supervise employee tasks to meet sales, production, training, and maintenance requirements.
- Know and follow the collective agreement.
- Assign weekly schedules and employee assignments to meet sales, production, training, and maintenance requirements, ensuring quality of product during process.
- Work closely with the Process Engineer and Maintenance Team to maximize kiln efficiency and minimize unscheduled downtime.
- Supervise the loading of truck shipments.
- Ensure the execution of the daily production plan, scheduling necessary arrangements to keep the plant running during breakdowns.
- Generate maintenance request notifications as needed.
- Routinely monitor key performance indicators, identifying opportunities for improvement and making appropriate supervisory and management personnel aware of the findings.
- Attend and provide input during the daily continuous improvement meeting.
- Explain significant variances from the daily plan and recommend changes to upgrade the running of the shift.
- Review barriers identified during shift turnover meetings to develop and monitor action plans to overcome obstacles.
- Participate in the daily morning production meeting to communicate with production and maintenance.
- Monitor workload to evaluate staffing levels.
- Document and maintain records.
- Post-secondary education in technology, engineering, industrial relations, sciences, or a related field.
- Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on quality, safety, environmental matters, process, and people.
- Strong material management skills, with a results-driven and self-starting attitude.
- A positive and proactive attitude, with the ability to address issues and implement solutions as required.
- Minimum of 2 years of direct supervisory experience in construction, manufacturing, and/or industrial settings related to mining, paper mills, steel plants, refractory, heavy equipment fabrication, stone processing, cement plants, etc.
- Ability to work in a team environment and adapt to fast-paced changing environments.
- Good solid management skills, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organized, able to multi-task, problem-solve, and have solid Microsoft Office Suite skills.
