Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team at the Langley Specialized Seniors Clinic. As a member of our interdisciplinary care team, you will provide occupational therapy services to older and/or geriatric adults with chronic conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide occupational therapy assessment, consultation, and interventions for older and/or geriatric adults to maximize physical function and promote independence and safety.
  • Determine the appropriate use of recognized occupational therapy assessment tools and conduct assessments as needed.
  • Prescribe and recommend specialized and adaptive aids and equipment to clients for activities of daily living (ADL).
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, clients, and caregivers to develop individual treatment goals utilizing the self-management model of living with chronic illness.
  • Provide treatment and/or teaching to clients and caregivers to restore, develop, or maintain functional status.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of direct clinical care and education provided to clients and caregivers.
  • Provide input to the interdisciplinary team regarding changes required to improve efficiency and/or effectiveness of service.
  • Develop and implement educational programs for clients, family, caregivers, and staff on independent living skills and occupational performance.
  • Provide geriatric clinical expertise, consultation, and leadership in evidence-based practice to staff and clients.
  • Maintain knowledge of current developments in evidence-based Occupational Therapy and geriatric practice.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an approved school of Occupational Therapy.
  • Two years' recent, clinical-related experience in working with older and/or geriatric clients or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current full registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of BC (COTBC) and eligible for membership in the BC Society of Occupational Therapists and/or Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists.
  • Valid BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes.
