Job Title: Director of Tax

The Director of Tax will play a pivotal role in overseeing the Company's tax planning, compliance, and reporting functions. With extensive expertise in Canadian tax laws and regulations, this individual will develop and execute tax strategies that align with the organization's goals and objectives.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop tax strategies that optimize tax efficiencies and ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
  • Provide strategic tax advice on acquisitions, divestitures, and investment opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the legal, investment, and family enterprise teams to provide tax support on various matters.
  • Lead the management of tax compliance and tax authority audits for the Company's entities.
  • Oversee the preparation of tax provisions and disclosures in financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and tax authorities.
  • Identify and manage tax risks associated with the company's operations and investments.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • CPA designation or law degree.
  • Completion of the CPA In-depth Tax Course or similar.
  • Extensive corporate tax experience in a firm or industry with a multinational corporate group.
  • At least 8 years of professional experience, primarily in tax.
  • Experience working in a family office is preferred.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing tax strategies that drive business results and minimize tax liabilities.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within an organization and influence decisions where appropriate.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present tax strategies and issues to senior management and external stakeholders.
