Key Responsibilities:- Provide nursing care to residents in accordance with established policies, physician's orders, and resident care plans.
- Utilize sound nursing practice principles to ensure delivery of excellent nursing and personal care in the assigned home area.
- Ensure the safekeeping and control of medications and narcotics, and follow established protocols on all assigned shifts.
- Create a comfortable and safe environment that promotes resident autonomy, independence, and individuality.
- Optimize each resident's potential to achieve or maintain maximum functional ability.
- Seek direction from the RN when resident needs exceed your experience or scope of practice.
- Exercise sound nursing judgment by reporting any change in resident status in a timely manner to the Registered Nurse as necessary.
- Foster an atmosphere that is conducive to the provision of optimal care and effective functioning of the assigned resident home area through collaboration with other team members.
- Diploma in Practical Nursing.
- Current registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses BC.
- Successful annual completion of RAI MDS certification as per Ministry of Health requirements for AIS.
- Current First Aid with CPR.
- All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check (applicable to Ontario applicants) and Criminal Records Check (applicable to British Columbia applicants).
- Long Term Care Experience.
We offer a competitive compensation package, including a leveling rate of pay $32.84 - $41.35 per hour until such time that wage leveling ends, then the pay rate will reflect the collective agreement pay rates starting rate.
