Vocational Rehabilitation Counsellor Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Vocational Rehabilitation Counsellor to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide individualized employment services to clients recovering from mental illness, helping them achieve their goals of returning to the workforce.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate clients' vocational needs and develop employment plans based on their preferences, needs, and abilities.
  • Conduct job development, direct marketing, and job search activities to facilitate access to competitive employment opportunities.
  • Provide ongoing support services to clients, including vocational rehabilitation counselling, job coaching, and education on employment-related topics.
  • Collaborate with Case Managers and other members of the interdisciplinary team to integrate vocational goals into mental health recovery plans.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community employers to promote employment opportunities and reduce stigma around mental illness.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant social or health sciences program.
  • Two years' recent experience providing vocational rehabilitation counselling and job marketing/development to individuals with mental illness.
  • Eligibility for certification as a rehabilitation professional with a recognized association.
  • Valid B.C. Driver's License - Class 5 and personal vehicle for work-related purposes.
