About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Area Manager to join our Cannabis Operations team at SNDL Inc. in Ontario. As an Area Manager, you will be responsible for driving the customer experience and culture in retail stores, while instilling our company values in the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meet or Exceed Budget Targets: Build a unique and memorable customer experience and customer base to generate revenue while controlling costs.
  • Lead a Team of Store Managers: Deliver world-class customer service, effective sales techniques, merchandising standards, and store policies and procedures.
  • Train and Develop Store Managers: Fulfill customer promise and ensure succession planning by identifying, developing, and inspiring future leaders.
  • Build Partnerships and Collaborate: Partner with other departments through an open, positive, and consultative approach to address key business issues and opportunities.
  • Identify and Implement New Strategies: Ensure the future success of the Operations business unit by proactively identifying and implementing new strategies.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure all stores operate within the guidelines established by SNDL Inc. under AGLC rules and regulations.
  • Maintain Facilities: Work closely with the Property Management team to manage both time-sensitive issues as well as regularly scheduled maintenance.
  • Expand Customer Base: Identify new customer opportunities and build rapport with the current customer base.
  • Respond to Audit Reports: Determine system improvements and implement change.
  • Participate in Hiring: Participate in the hiring of Store Managers and Customer Experience Representatives, develop selection process tools, and participate in interviews to ensure qualified candidates are hired.
  • Provide Supervision: Supervise through site visits, observations, and the review of measurable results, including delivering performance appraisals and salary reviews.
  • Demonstrate Commitment: Demonstrate commitment to SNDL Inc.'s responsibility mandate and workplace health and safety.
Requirements
  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma: A post-secondary degree or diploma in Business or a relevant field is an asset.
  • Multi-Unit Retail Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years' experience managing multi-unit retail stores or large hospitality establishments, liquor and/or cannabis industry preferred.
  • Retail Operations Knowledge: Sound knowledge of retail operations and related operating practices.
  • MS Office Suite Proficiency: Proficient in MS Office Suite applications.
  • Previous Experience: Previous experience in strategy, channel execution, training, and communications.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Working knowledge of regulations as it pertains to the selling of Cannabis in Alberta.
  • Certifications: Valid SellSafe Certification and AGLC approval to become a QCW (Qualified Cannabis Worker).
