Job Title: Veterinary Technician

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team at Douglas Boechh, Susan Javinsky Consolidated Cat Hospital. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our veterinarians in delivering exceptional medical services.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for handling, restraining, and caring for animals undergoing treatment and surgery. You will assist veterinarians before, during, and after surgery, prepare and administer medications and vaccines under their direction, and provide wound and bandage care. Additionally, you will counsel clients on animal health care, perform routine animal dental procedures, and assist veterinarians with animal dentistry.

Responsibilities:
  • Handle, restrain, and care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery
  • Assist veterinarians before, during, and after surgery
  • Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under direction of veterinarian
  • Administer treatments as prescribed by veterinarian
  • Counsel clients on animal health care
  • Perform routine animal dental procedures and assist veterinarians with animal dentistry
  • Provide wound and bandage care
Requirements:
  • College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
  • 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in a related field
  • Or equivalent experience
Work Environment:

This is a temporary position with a variable schedule. You will be working in a fast-paced environment with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking. You must be able to handle heavy loads, have manual dexterity, and attention to detail. You will be working under pressure and in a physically demanding environment.
