About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and physically capable labourer to join our team at Pécheries Bas-Caraquet Fisheries Inc. as a fish processing labourer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport fish and shellfish to the work area, ensuring efficient workflow and minimal downtime.
  • Condition fish filets for wrapping or freezing, adhering to quality control standards.
  • Weigh fish or shellfish, record weight, and pack fish in ice, maintaining accurate records.
  • Clean machines and immediate work areas, promoting a safe and healthy environment.
  • Measure and dump ingredients into hoppers of mixing and grinding machines, following established procedures.
  • Sort fish according to species, weight, and destination, ensuring accurate sorting and minimal waste.
  • Clean the work area, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Work in a noisy, odorous, cold/refrigerated, and wet/damp environment, requiring physical stamina and adaptability.
  • Perform repetitive tasks, handle heavy loads, and stand for extended periods, necessitating good physical health and endurance.
  • Overtime may be required, necessitating flexibility and a willingness to work varied schedules.
Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs), requiring physical strength and endurance.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, reliability, and teamwork abilities, essential for a collaborative work environment.
  • Will train, with a focus on developing skills and knowledge in fish processing and handling.
