About the Job

Pêcheries Bas-Caraquet Fisheries Inc. is seeking a skilled Fish Processing Labourer to join our team. As a Fish Processing Labourer, you will be responsible for various tasks related to fish processing, including transporting fish and shellfish to the work area, conditioning fish filets for wrapping or freezing, and cleaning machines and immediate work areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transportation and Handling: Transport fish and shellfish to the work area, ensuring safe and efficient movement.
  • Filet Conditioning: Condition fish filets for wrapping or freezing, adhering to quality control standards.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Clean machines and immediate work areas, maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
  • Measurement and Packing: Weigh fish or shellfish, record weight, and pack fish in ice, ensuring accurate and efficient packing.
  • Sorting and Quality Control: Sort fish according to species, weight, and destination, ensuring high-quality products.
  • Work Area Maintenance: Clean the work area, maintaining a safe and organized environment.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Work Site Environment: The work site is noisy, with odours, cold/refrigerated temperatures, and wet/damp conditions.
  • Physical Demands: The job requires repetitive tasks, handling heavy loads, physically demanding work, standing for extended periods, and overtime.
  • Weight Handling: The job involves handling weights up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
