About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Integration Manager to join our Rail and Transit team in Calgary. As a key member of our team, you will collaborate closely with our Chief Engineers and Specialists to deliver complex rail and transit projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement Systems Integration Plans, Systems Engineering Management Plans, and Interface Control Documents.
  • Perform functional analysis, create Systems Breakdown Structures, and develop functional block diagrams, Systems Architecture, and sequence diagrams.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all stakeholder and project requirements are met.
  • Facilitate and chair meetings with designers and clients to discuss and manage system interfaces.
  • Ensure Validation and Verification processes are fully defined to ensure all requirements are complete.
  • Prepare proposal evaluations, technical reports, cost estimates, detailed analyses, design justifications, and other materials suitable for various rail and transit pursuits.
  • Ensure all design elements are compliant with relevant rail operation rules, industry codes, and client expectations.
  • Interact with clients to discuss technical topics and facilitate resolution of customer expectations versus technical issues.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to junior staff to develop their technical skills.
  • Work with tight schedules, control project budgets, and motivate junior staff.
Requirements
  • University or postgraduate degree in a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Registered as a P. Eng with an accreditable institution or eligible for registration.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in transit, safety-critical industry, or related engineering field.
Technical Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Systems Engineering process and principles.
  • Experience in different phases of the engineering design life cycle and familiarity with Systems Engineering standards.
  • Knowledge of identification and management of project risks.
  • Proven ability to work successfully in multi-disciplinary teams and across different business units.
  • Familiarity with signalling principles, train control solutions, and railway standards.
  • Basic knowledge of civil design, signalling principles, SCADA, communications, trackwork, systems assurance, safety assurance, vehicle and wayside interfaces, traction power design, power supply and distribution, mechanical, system and train simulation, tunnels, and fire life safety systems.
  • Experience in verification and validation processes would be an asset.
  • Understanding of system safety certification processes and RAMS would be an asset.
  • Understanding of requirements management and usage of RM tools such as IBM Rational DOORS would be an asset.
Additional Qualifications
  • INCOSE certification such as ASEP or CSEP would be an asset.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Systems Engineering domain is preferred.
  • Previous experience in Systems Integration for complex rail and transit projects is an asset.
  • Experience in a consulting engineering environment is an asset.
  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio.
  • Able to travel domestically or internationally to support proposals, projects, and client needs.
  • Analytical skills: able to analyze complex technical problems and develop effective solutions.
  • Communication skills: able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively with other professionals.
  • Project management skills: able to manage complex projects and work effectively in a team environment.
