Job Title: Drywall Installer

At CANADA INC., we are seeking a skilled Drywall Installer to join our team. As a Drywall Installer, you will be responsible for installing drywall sheets, taping joints, and applying successive coats of compound to create smooth surfaces.

Work Environment

The work environment is dusty and noisy, requiring the ability to work in a fast-paced setting. You will be required to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs) and perform repetitive tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install drywall sheets and cut them to size as needed
  • Tape joints and apply compound to create smooth surfaces
  • Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints
  • Clean and prepare surfaces for installation
  • Measure, cut, and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners
  • Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place in panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings
  • Fill joints, nail indentations, holes, and cracks with joint compound using a trowel and broad knife
  • Finish corners and angles and create decorative designs in the finish coat, if required
  • Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists
  • Smooth out excess compound and allow coat to dry
  • Spray acoustic or texture materials over walls and ceilings
  • Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound
  • Trowel or spray coats of stucco over exteriors of buildings to form weatherproof surfaces
  • Attach metal or gypsum lath to studs or furring
  • Cut openings in lath for heating and ventilation piping, ducts, and electrical outlets
  • Install corner beads and wire mesh around beams to which plaster is to be applied
  • Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools
  • Install vapour barriers and thermal and sound insulation
  • Prepare wall and ceiling layouts
  • Erect and install scaffolding, falsework, and other working platforms
  • Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications
Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • 1 to less than 7 months of experience
  • Ability to work in a dusty and noisy environment
  • Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks
  • Dependability, flexibility, reliability, and team player skills
