Fisheries Management Specialist

Job Summary
The Government of Alberta seeks a highly skilled Fisheries Manager to lead the development, implementation, and management of the Northwest fisheries programs. This role requires a strong understanding of stakeholder relations, consultation processes, and the ability to balance competing interests in working with stakeholders to ensure the recovery and sustainability of fish populations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, deliver, and oversee tactical strategies and work plans related to fish population and habitat management and species at risk conservation and recovery at regional and provincial scales.
- Apply sound scientific knowledge and resource management skills to inform cumulative effects assessment and management, and support the department's integrated resource management programs at provincial, divisional, and branch/regional levels.
- Contribute to provincial, regional, and sub-regional environmental and natural resource plans, procedures, objectives, thresholds, and actions achieved directly, and by providing support to the Regional Director.
Requirements
The successful candidate will have expertise in stakeholder relations, consultation processes, and the ability to lead diverse and complex programs and teams. They will also have the ability to balance competing interests and work with stakeholders to ensure the recovery and sustainability of fish populations.
