Job Description:
- Lead all aspects of the Management of Change (MOC) process for Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regarding capital expenditure and improvement projects.
- Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions, including occupational health, safety, and environmental conditions and practices in the workplace through surveys.
- Participate in process safety evaluations and activities, such as Pressure Relief System Reviews (PSSR), Process Safety Studies (PSEA), Quad Folder Risk Assessment improvement, incident investigations, compliance reviews, risk studies, insurance surveys, and consequence analyses.
- Review engineering designs for compliance with company and industry safety standards.
- Conduct on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and ensure safe work practices are followed.
- Perform work permit reviews, behavior-based safety inspections, job site safety compliance inspections, including hazard analyses and safe work procedures, and prepare written reports and recommendations.
- Evaluate the hazard control system, policies, and procedures and recommend changes to eliminate workplace incidents and injuries.
- Participate in root cause analysis following injuries or property damage using statistical loss data to prepare comprehensive recommendations for corrective action.
- Participate in contractor prequalification evaluation activities and review contractor safety submittals for compliance to corporate requirements.
- Evaluate new equipment installation to ensure it meets safety guidelines and standards set by the province and Novelis.
- Support a 24/7 operation by responding to emergency situations and incidents during or after regular working hours to provide technical assistance and advice.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in an engineering field (mechanical, electrical, chemical, or metallurgical) is required.
- 1-5 years of industrial experience, including student roles, is an asset.
- Experience using computer programs and willingness to learn new programming quickly is necessary.
- Comfortable using databases, including Excel, Access, SQL, or similar, is essential.
- Proven Project Management experience is required.
Compensation: The estimated salary for this role is $90,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience.
