Job Summary

Slegg Building Materials is seeking a skilled General Labour to work in our Engineered Wood Products department. The successful candidate will be responsible for cutting engineered wood beams and joists, preparing packs for order shipment, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all regulations, company policies, and procedures
  • Cut engineered wood beams and joists using a circular saw or chainsaw
  • Prepare packs from material cut lists provided for order shipment to commercial and residential construction sites
  • Band packs and tag pieces according to cut list labels provided
  • Audit completed orders from material cut list for accuracy prior to delivery
  • Receive and put stock away as needed
  • Perform weekly inventory counts
  • Maintain the general appearance and housekeeping of work areas

Requirements

  • Must be able to work outdoors in all types of seasonal weather elements
  • Valid forklift certification and experience
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure with accuracy
  • Experience using a chainsaw following safety measures
  • Physical requirements include:
    o Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
    o Pulling, pushing, bending and torso twisting movements with weight
