Job Summary

The Manitoba Government is seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Assistant to join their team. As a key member of the Department of Housing, Addictions and Homelessness, you will be responsible for completing maintenance tasks within an assigned portfolio while ensuring the department's policies, procedures, and guidelines are being followed.

Key Responsibilities

* Perform inspections and prepare scope of work for maintenance repairs
* Maintain inventories of materials, supplies, and equipment
* Prepare and submit required documentation connected to the performance of duties, including maintenance and tenant concerns to the Supervisor

Requirements

* Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
* Must provide a satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check
* Must provide a satisfactory Adult Abuse Registry Check
* Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver's Licence
* Must be physically capable to travel within the designated area

Qualifications

* Essential: Experience performing minor or major renovations and maintenance repairs, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, mechanical equipment, and appliance repair
* Ability to work effectively under pressure with minimal supervision
* Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize critical issues and operate effectively within limited timeframes
* Superior interpersonal and customer service skills and ability to deal effectively with tenants and the public
* Strong problem-solving skills
* Effective verbal communication skills
* Desired: Proficiency with using Microsoft Outlook

Working Conditions

The incumbent will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent travel to various locations, including gravel and winter ice roads, by small aircraft/float planes, and boat.
