Repatriation and Reunification Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Repatriation and Reunification Specialist to join our team at the Saskatoon Tribal Council.
About the Role:This is a challenging yet rewarding opportunity for an experienced professional to develop and implement effective repatriation and reunification strategies for children and youth transitioning from care to their family and home community.
Main Responsibilities:- Develop and maintain relationships with children and youth in care, building trust and establishing open communication channels;
- Collaborate with MSS case workers to identify client needs and develop meaningful case plans that promote identification with kinship units and cultural practices;
- Maintain regular communication with service partners and First Nation communities to monitor progress and advocate for well-being;
- Develop and implement strategies for successful reintegration of children and youth into their communities, ensuring a personal connection with kinship units and promoting overall well-being;
- Communicate regularly with STC staff to facilitate access to resources and ensure effective outcomes;
- Ensure all practices and policies are in compliance with applicable legislation and regulations related to child protection and special education;
- Work collaboratively with STC staff and community partners to establish effective reunification and well-being monitoring criteria and methods;
- Provide after-care support to clients to ensure successful transition and reintegration into their communities;
- Travel inter-provincially as needed to connect with children and youth in care;
- Post-secondary Diploma or Degree in Social Work (BISW or BSW);
- 3-5 years experience in prevention or protection services, with proven ability to build trust with youth and establish relationships;
- Experience working within a governance structure in a community development capacity with First Nations, familiarity with First Nations culture and history considered an asset;
- Membership in good standing with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers or eligibility to register;
- Knowledge of high-risk youth issues and approaches;
- Knowledge of Child and Family Services Act, Adoptions Act, and their regulations, standards, and guidelines;
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with service partners, Ministry of Social Services staff, and First Nation communities;
- Strong organizational and planning skills;
- Dependability, integrity, and excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, with ability to learn new software applications;
$65,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits package and generous vacation time.
