Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Cree Language and Culture Teacher to teach Nehiyaw Pimatisiwin Cree Language and Culture programming at six sites in Edmonton. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with over 800 students and contribute to the development of our Indigenous Learning Services department.

Key Responsibilities

  • To teach Nehiyaw Pimatisiwin Cree Language and Culture programming at six sites in Edmonton
  • To work with students, staff, and community members to develop and implement culturally relevant education
  • To collaborate with a Cree Language Consultant to build Indigenous perspectives into the curriculum
  • To demonstrate approaches for teaching Indigenous learners and building connections with Elders, Indigenous families, cultural instructors, and communities

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent
  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Cree language and culture
  • Experience working with Indigenous students and communities

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is approximately $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a pension plan.
