About This Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a certified Palliative Care Physician to join our interdisciplinary team in the Annapolis Valley. As a key member of our palliative care team, you will provide coverage in various care settings, including hospital, home, long-term care, and assisted living residences.

We are looking for a physician with a strong background in palliative care, who can work collaboratively with our team to provide high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia and certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada.

Responsibilities
  • Provide palliative care services in all care settings, including hospital, home, long-term care, and assisted living residences
  • Collaborate with our interdisciplinary team to develop and deliver interprofessional initiatives in palliative care
  • Mentor medical students and family medicine residents from Dalhousie University
  • Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, including CADD pumps usage
Qualifications
  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia
  • Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada
  • Certificate of Added Competence in Palliative Care (CCFP-PC) or equivalent accredited training in Palliative Medicine
  • Demonstrated ability and experience working in a shared care model and across a multitude of care settings
  • Demonstrated interest in the palliative approach to care and capacity building with other colleagues
