About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Supply Custodian to join our team at Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic DSB. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and security of our buildings and grounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare schools for entry and ensure efficient operation of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of facilities, including sweeping, stripping, scrubbing, and polishing floors and stairs
  • Perform routine checks of buildings, playgrounds, and equipment for hazardous situations
  • Collect and dispose of refuse and recyclables
  • Perform minor maintenance and servicing of mechanical, electrical, or plumbing services
  • Order and maintain an inventory of custodial supplies
  • Record meter readings and maintain a salting and sanding log
  • Check fire extinguishers and assist with conducting fire drills
  • Direct student summer help and check work performed, if applicable
  • Provide in-service and training for supply custodial staff
Requirements
  • Completion of Grade 10 plus an additional vocational program of up to one year or completion of Grade 11 or equivalent
  • Six months to one year's work-related experience
  • Ability to use equipment such as lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, and wet/dry vacuums
  • Knowledge and compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (W.H.M.I.S.)
  • Familiarity with Board and school policies and procedures
  • Effective communication skills to cooperatively work with Board staff, students, parents, and the general public
