Janitor/custodian

Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Janitor/Custodian to join our team. As a Janitor/Custodian, you will play a crucial role in supporting our plant's 5S initiatives, ensuring a clean, organized, and safe working environment for all employees. Key Duties & Responsibilities:

- Actively participate in and support all plant 5S initiatives, organizing tasks and completing them with mínimal supervision.
- Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of washroom facilities to maintain hygiene standards.
- Wash and dry reusable personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and wrist guards on a daily basis or as required.
- Ensure timely removal of trash from production and support areas on a daily basis.
- Prepare plant recycling bins for weekly pick up, promoting environmental sustainability.
- Participate in 5S zone audits to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Operate and utilize equipment associated with floor cleaning, such as floor scrubbers, mops, brooms, etc.
- Maintain floor scrubber equipment, including spare parts and cleaning supplies.
- Clean walking surfaces to ensure they are safe and free from debris.
- Perform cleaning tasks on facility structures, including racking, windows, walls, and floors.
- Clean production equipment as needed to maintain cleanliness standards.
- Conduct weekly cleaning of office areas, including vacuuming, dusting, and wiping doors.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks in the lunchroom area.
- Clean exterior grounds, including garbage pails, picnic tables, smoking areas, and water plants/weeds.
- Complete miscellaneous sanitization tasks as assigned.
- Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the 5S system.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work is preferred.
- Familiarity with 5S principles and practices is an asset.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, tools, and chemicals used in janitorial work.
- Ability to operate and maintain floor cleaning equipment effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.

40 multi-slide proprietary zinc die-casting machines ranging from 12 to 21 tons

Five multi-slide proprietary zinc die-casting machines ranging from 70 to 200 tons

Injected Metal Assembly (IMA) up to one ton

Precision tool building with in-house capabilities

Design, prototyping, and modelling services

Wide range of finishing surfaces available including tumbling, polishing, shot blasting and thermal de-burring

Cosmetic or protective coating equipment either through certified suppliers or in-house

Wide range of secondary operations including CNC machining, tapping, reaming, and drilling

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $18.50-$18.74 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
