Overview

The City of Vancouver is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the development of electrical infrastructure capital projects, manage technical staff, and oversee the delivery of electrical design services.

 

Job Description

Salary: $140,000 - $160,000 per year

This senior role is responsible for managing the delivery of annual electrical work, overseeing the electrical design team, and establishing technical specifications and standards. The successful candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, experience in project management, and excellent leadership skills.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Led the Electrical Design staff in delivering on strategic objectives and the continuous improvement of services related to the City's electrical infrastructure.
  • Assisted in prioritization, administration, and execution of the electrical infrastructure capital plan, working in partnership with the Divisional Asset Manager/Engineer and Operations.
  • Ensured asset management strategies and plans were established for all electrical infrastructure.
  • Managed the technical staff to ensure delivery in accordance with standards, regulations, and specifications.
  • Sealed (as a P.Eng.) electrical designs generated under direct supervision.

 

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Professional Engineer designation, and minimum 6 years related experience in design and construction project engineering work. They must also possess advanced knowledge of electrical engineering principles, standards, and specifications, as well as experience managing staff and HR issues in a union environment.
