About the Role

The Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Executive Officer to lead our team. As the senior staff person, you will be accountable for setting the strategic direction of the Board and leading its execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and direct a team of officers and administrative employees to promote a safe, inclusive, and welcoming workplace.
  • Oversee the case management process of the Labour Board, ensuring cases are processed in a timely manner and compliant with legislation and principles of procedural fairness.
  • Develop and implement the Board's strategic and operational planning in partnership with the Chair.
  • Review and analyze metrics on Board performance standards, evaluate community partner satisfaction, and report on the Board's performance.
  • Lead the development and implementation of new administrative policies and procedures for the Board.
  • Provide mediation and alternative resolution services to facilitate the resolution of disputes before the Board.
  • Conduct legal research and monitor legal and social trends in labour relations, labour standards, and occupational health and safety.
Requirements
  • A law degree or an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline plus five years of relevant work experience.
  • Labour and employee relations experience, including experience with legal research, interpretation of labour and employment legislation, analysis, evidence, and legal writing.
  • Effective leadership and team building skills.
  • Experience managing the delivery of services to the public, including identifying opportunities for improving programs and services.
  • Strong strategic and operational planning skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
