Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

At Health Sciences Centre, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide professional practical nursing services to designated patients, ensuring their care and well-being.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide independent nursing services, including administering prescribed medical treatments and collaborating with the healthcare team.
  • Participate in the coordination of patient care and discharge, ensuring a smooth transition for patients.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest nursing practices and protocols, adhering to regional, facility, and unit policies.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to identify and address patient needs, ensuring high-quality care.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an approved Licensed Practical Nursing Education program.
  • Current certification in IV Therapy and IV Medication Administration.
  • Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM).
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements in accordance with Employer policy.
  • Knowledge of College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba Standards of Practice for Licensed Practical Nurses and Code of Ethics for Licensed Practical Nurses.
  • Ability to prioritize care for individual patients or groups, delegate care appropriately, and monitor outcomes.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, with preference given to those competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions, and values.
Working Conditions:
  • Rotating shifts and weekends may be required.
  • Ability to function in a demanding and stressful environment.
  • Proficient with computers, software programs, and applications such as Windows and Word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
