Museum Manager Job Summary

The Yellowknife Historical Society is seeking a highly skilled Museum Manager to oversee the operations and activities of the Yellowknife Historical Museum. This is a full-time position that requires a strong background in museum management, leadership, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and strategic direction for the Museum, including planning and implementing exhibitions, programs, and events.

• Manage the Museum's resources, including human, financial, and physical resources.
  \t
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the Museum's long-term financial sustainability.
  \t
• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including artists, community members, and funding agencies.
  \t
• Collaborate with the Board of Directors and other museum professionals to achieve the Museum's goals and objectives.

• Manage the Museum's budget and financial operations, including preparing annual budgets and financial reports.

• Develop and implement marketing and promotional strategies to increase the Museum's visibility and attendance.
  

Requirements

•

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as museum studies, history, or arts administration.

• Minimum 3 years of experience in museum management or a related field.
  \t
• Proven leadership and management skills, including experience in budgeting and financial management.
  \t
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including experience in building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and consultation.
