Southern Tutchone Language Educator

We are seeking a qualified Southern Tutchone Language Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in the Southern Tutchone language and culture, and will be responsible for delivering the Southern Tutchone language and culture program at the primary level.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver the Southern Tutchone language and culture program at the primary level
- Develop and implement curriculum that meets the needs of students
- Work collaboratively with the Kwanlin Dün and Ta'an Kwach'an Council, community members, community Elders, and families to promote greater community involvement in school-based activities and educational programming
- Develop and maintain strong and respectful relationships and trust with students, their families, and the community
- Implement restorative practice and positive behavioral interventions and supports
- Develop and implement effective support systems to assist at-risk students
- Plan, deliver, and analyze project-based learning to support curriculum outcomes
- Implement on-the-land curriculum and science of reading approaches to literacy
- Completion of Yukon Native Language Centre certification/diploma program or equivalent
- Demonstrated language proficiency (read, write, and speak) or a desire to learn Southern Tutchone language
- Extensive knowledge and awareness of Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Ta'an Kwach'an Council worldview, traditional practices, values, and beliefs
- Ability to work collaboratively and maintain an authentic relationship with the Kwanlin Dün and Ta'an Kwach'an Council, community members, community Elders, and families
- Strong understanding and experience with implementing on-the-land curriculum and science of reading approaches to literacy
- Knowledge of and ability to implement developmentally responsive approaches
- Southern Tutchone language qualified citizens of the Kwanlin Dün and Ta'an Kwach'an First Nations
