TBM Mechanic Job Description


We are seeking an experienced TBM Mechanic to supervise the execution of all mechanical activities, including assembly, start-up, maintenance, and disassembly. This role may also involve supporting STP assembly and start-up.



  • Supervise the execution of all TBM mechanical activities, ensuring compliance with method statements and specifications provided by the TBM supplier.
  • Ensure that all mechanical works are carried out in accordance with safety and environmental regulations and project quality standards.
  • Prepare documentation relating to TBM maintenance, including managing and supervising a team of TBM mechanics.
  • Manage and order spare parts, interface with other departments, and supervise trouble-shooting and preventive maintenance.
  • Organize and plan work for future mechanical operations, conduct daily plant inspections, and submit maintenance/breakdown reports.
  • Liaise with TBM Electrical teams for planning ongoing and future works, ensuring method statements and risk assessments are in place.
  • Inspect and audit the plant to maintain optimum performance in accordance with Canadian Standards, responsible for accurate and effective shift handovers.

Requirements and Qualifications



  • Trade or qualification in Mechanical Engineering/Civil Engineering
  • 2-3 years' experience in civil or tunnelling construction, typically 2-3 years in a supervisory role
  • 2-3 years' experience in basic use of Microsoft Office Suite, data, and file recording
  • 2-3 years' experience working on TBM projects
  • 2-3 years' experience on major infrastructure construction operations of similar scale with a proven ability to operate in a dynamic environment and meet significant program hurdles
  • Experience in Safety, Community, and Environmental Management
  • Experience in Quality Management
  • Experience in Planning & Resourcing
  • In-depth knowledge of TBM, slurry pump, Slurry Treatment Plant, and associated tunnel-related equipment
  • Sound knowledge of civil construction materials/services
  • Sound knowledge of local WHS standards and regulations
  • Ability to supervise team members, work closely with safety and other departments to control and maintain project safety standards
  • Demonstrate a positive and collaborative 'can-do' attitude, initiative, and creative problem-solving skills
  • Practical knowledge and understanding of computers and Microsoft software packages
  • Good communication skill, both oral and written
  • Mechanical or Electrical Trade background
  • Ability to work to deadlines and targets, prioritize tasks under pressure
  • Good organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Driving License
